UNHLS, Uganda National Health Laboratory Services

7 engagements in 6 months, 60  district focal persons  engaged. UNHLS is a dynamic arm of the Ministry of Health majoring in analyzing and diagnosis of diseases through laboratory services with international accreditation. It handles the prevention and control of epidemic outbreaks in the nation including Ebola and other health concerns like sickle cell anaemia and TB. With a national portfolio, UNHLS satellite centres operate mainly as hubs spread in regions of the country and the need to develop their leading and managerial capacities is ripe. L555 is privileged to contribute to this national noble cause. In the past six months we have engaged with this institution 7 different times at various levels of their administration and a clear prospect of a steadfast partnership is in sight. The National team Leader has 3 teaching shows weekly on the station. In 2013, L555 run a specialized weekly show on authentic leadership for six months. The Nation is now deemed ripe to have a full banquet of relevant leadership teachings to sensitize masses for national transformation. Much more is expected in the future because the platform majors on reformation. By divine providence, Leadership 555 Uganda has an indirect platform to reach church communities through Spirit FM 96.6. It was a follow up 12 hours engagement that was addressing the wrong perception of leaderships that is the difference between leading and managing. The purpose was to shift mindset from leaders are born to leaders are made and dealing with root causes rather than symptoms. The main objective was to harness ideas for incubation process. Pre-Incubator Engagements

Oct-Dec 2016. The Incubator Process The last quarter of 2016 we held three (3) engagements on the introduction to authentic leadership with fifty people actively participated in the engagements. The main goals were to introduce them into catalytic style of leadership and to harness their passions, concerns, burdens and daily observations into ideas. Early 2017 we held four sessions of follow up engagements as part of incubator selection process. There were twenty participants and fourteen completed at least three sessions. The target was to help them dig deeper to the root causes of the underlying problems and develop their ideas to systemically solve those problems using collective strategies in a collaborative environment. The selection process was concluded with one on one interviews with fifteen candidates with systemic ideas. 5years of Leadership 555 Uganda (L555), 2012-2017 (featured Article) Leadership 555 Uganda has been operational in the country since 2012 though it was formally registered this year (2017) as a civil society organisation. For an organization that largely thrives on local resources, we have had a relatively low turnover where majority of the staff have been retained up to date. Even when most of them are either undergraduates or graduates, they have chosen to serve as volunteers or part-time staff for this worthwhile undertaking. In the past, we used to just offer leadership empowerment services to our clients. Just like any other typical service provider, we would create attractive service-products that would suit the desires of our clients, met our overhead costs and sometimes a margin for sustainability in business.  We would also call networking meetings for the sake of networking especially for our loyal customers. Now things have changed! Experience has taught us that solving complex social problems is more dynamic than earlier assumed. We need every hand on deck in order to move small yet significant steps in the right direction. We now know that leaders will network and efficiently align themselves with like-minded people in the context of an environment where they give of themselves, that is, in form of skills, time or any other resource at their disposal.
