5 years of Leadership 555 Uganda (L555), 2012-2017

Background

Leadership 555 Uganda has been operational in the country since 2012 though it was formally registered this year (2017) as a Company Limited by Guarantee. For an organization that largely thrives on local resources, we have had a relatively low turnover where majority of the staff have been retained up to date. Even when most of them are either undergraduates or graduates, they have chosen to serve as volunteers or part-time staff for this worthwhile undertaking. It is developing to create a radical awareness of the global need for authentic leaderships in all social spheres.

We live in a world where social problems have gradually become complex where most of the well-intended interventions have unfortunately worsened the situation. Our country needs leaders and leaderships that are uniquely qualified to administrate systemic initiatives with potential to fundamentally transform this land. We call them catalytic leaders. As an organization, we have intentionally focused on building frameworks that enhance the performance of the catalytic leaders to do their work. This ministry cause is experiencing an increasing demand as it is seen by those interfacing with it as answering long standing puzzles and resolving core leadership problems. It is some steps beyond academics into realistic approaches.
For the last three years we have been piloting our programs and reached over 200 leaders in the process in different parts of the country including Central region (Masaka, Kampala, Wakiso), Northern (Gulu, Amuria, …), Eastern (Pallisa, Kapchorwa, …) and North West (Arua, Adjumani…).The ministry beneficiaries are, successful establishments and emerging leaderships. This is so because we serve to catalyze a fusion of both to avail platforms of high octane collaborations that eases transitions between generations for better social life. Men, women, young and old, all find adequate services in areas of leadership development. We have tried and tested our programs and are very certain that Uganda can surely benefit from our services.
We have designed our programs to appeal to leaders fed up of the status quo. The kind that will stop at nothing until this country is systemically changed. They are open to work with other like-minded people who are ready to offer their best skills for the greater good. Leadership 555 Uganda will not only train these catalytic leaders but will also help in building frameworks around them to foster sustainability of the initiatives they are engaged in. Some of our registered successes in past years are: the conceptualization of the products we offer, a trial of our idea incubator program, and crucial networking with some of the leading leadership development concerns in Uganda and abroad.

A radical, holistic and sustainable transformation of Uganda
To participate in raising authentic leaderships that can effect systemic change in Uganda.

Values

1.    CALL: To know beyond doubt that you have been set apart to lead
Recognizing that we are individually accountable to God to work diligently at bringing the divine mandate for mankind to fruition.

2.    CHARACTER: Live by divinely set standards as servant leaders
The goal is to exhibit that these standards are attainable and no one is exempted from attempting them.

3.    COMPETENCE: To pursue excellence as a continuous learner
Obtaining a mind-set that will appreciate challenges and diverging views as opportunities to learn and grow- for oneself, and for others.

4.    COURAGE: To keep going in the face of opposition
The fortitude to endure the discomfort of resistant forces and the loneliness of taking unfamiliar paths while focused on the overarching goal that will benefit all.

5.    COMPASSION: To serve and lead for the sake of others
Having genuine concern for the plight of others, over and above your own interests motivated by explicit value one attaches to human life.

6.    COLLABORATION: To work together for the greater good
Recognizing and celebrating the strengths, unique skills and insights each individual/entity brings to the table, for the sake of achieving the greater good.

7.    CAPACITY: To take ownership, and pursue the potential for local sustainability

We encourage individuals/communities to own up to their social problems and then work as a team to design and implement lasting solutions to these long-standing problems.
